Client PolicyWise for Children and Families Services Branding, Print Design, Website Design & Development Overview The Spark Guide is a resource for early childhood educators in Alberta. It helps build skills, capacity, and confidence to provide culturally responsive child care. We worked closely with the wonderful team at PolicyWise, who developed the concept and content of the guide. Our goals were to create a brand (and guide) that is clear, welcoming, and accessible to educators, caregivers, directors, and operators. It should feel friendly and approachable to reflect it’s purpose of providing help and guidance. And the overall tone needed to look professional and cohesive to appeal to the audience of educators, caregivers, and directors. What we did Our project began with positioning and naming of the guide. Followed by the creation of a visual identity (logo, style, and application system). We contracted Hello Public to help bring our photography needs to life and create a short explainer video to publicly launch the guide. Following the visual identity, we designed the guide itself, the website which it exists to be downloaded from, numerous launch and promotion event materials, and on-going social media posts. All of these materials and platforms help bring awareness about the guide and access to download and use the guide. Ongoing posting and sharing resources about Spark aims to build a community of support and adoption of the guide. The name and the visual identity is exciting and actionalbe which mirrors the content of the guide. The guide helps educators and caregivers in their day-to-day work. It is a resource they can lean on and invites approaches to understanding culture beyond ethnicity. We created a imagery style that highlights people and interactions between educators, caregivers, and children. The style is inviting and dynamic. It focuses on real professionals and children. The guide is action-oriented and narrative, sharing useful examples to empower caregivers and educators to use its strategies. We wanted this empowerment and confidence to shine through in the imagery. The website is where anyone can access and download the guide for free. It is also a great resource for information, tools, and support. The goal was to create a site that embodies the brand and is easy to use and actionable. We extended this feeling through social media content that helps share these ongoing resources, tools, and tips from the guide itself and the website.
